AGENTIC GAME DEV — Build Pro 2D Platformers with Claude Code
A build-along course for developers

Build Pro 2D Platformers
With Claude Code As Your Co-Pilot

AGENTIC GAME DEV is a hands-on course that teaches you to design, prompt, and ship a complete 2D platformer — tight movement, real levels, enemies, and polish — by working alongside Claude Code instead of coding it all alone.

claude-code — platformer/
> claude "give the player coyote time and a variable-height jump" Reading player_controller.js… Added coyote_timer, jump_buffer, and hold-to-extend jump arc. Tuning gravity scale for a snappier fall. > claude "spawn a patrol enemy that reacts to line of sight" Created enemy_patrol.js with a 3-state behavior tree. Wired detection cone + chase/return logic. >
The problem

Most people never finish the game they start

Not because the idea is bad — because the middle is brutal. Movement feels floaty, enemy logic turns into spaghetti, and every tutorial teaches syntax instead of how to actually direct an AI coding agent through a real build.

🎮

Movement never feels right

You get jumping working, but it's stiff — no coyote time, no buffering, no weight.

🧩

Levels are hard to structure

Hand-placed tiles turn into a mess the moment you want a second level.

🤖

Prompting an agent isn't taught

Nobody shows you how to brief Claude Code so it builds the *right* system, not just *a* system.

🚫

Projects stall at 60%

The core loop works, but polish, enemies, and shipping never happen.

Inside the course

Six levels. One finished platformer.

Each level is a focused build session — you write real prompts, review real code, and end with a working system in your game, not a slide deck.

01
World Setup

Stand up a real project, the pro way

Install and configure Claude Code, structure a game repo like a working studio would, and set the ground rules for how you'll direct your agent through the whole build.

02
Player Physics

Movement that actually feels good

The exact prompting patterns for jump arcs, coyote time, jump buffering, wall jumps, and dash — the details that separate an amateur controller from a professional one.

03
Level Design Systems

Tile maps, editors, and camera work

Build a reusable level-loading system, a lightweight in-editor workflow, and a camera that follows the player without ever feeling jerky.

04
Enemies & AI Behavior

Give your world something to fight

State machines for patrol, chase, and attack, plus a full boss encounter — all built by briefing Claude Code like a technical director, not a code generator.

05
Juice & Polish

Make it feel alive

Particles, screen shake, hit-stop, animation timing, and sound hooks — the layer that turns "it works" into "it feels great to play."

06
Ship It

Package a portfolio-ready build

Debug with an agentic workflow, clean up the project, and export a build you can actually show off or hand to someone else.

Bonus: The Prompt Library

A growing set of tested prompts for common platformer systems — pull one out any time you're stuck on movement, AI, or camera work.

Is this for you

Built for builders, not spectators

This is for you if

  • You want to actually finish a playable game
  • You're comfortable following along and typing prompts and code
  • You want to learn to direct an AI coding agent, not just chat with one
  • You like structure — build sessions, not vague theory

This isn't for you if

  • You're looking for a passive, watch-only video series
  • You want a fully finished game handed to you with no building
  • You're not willing to sit down and work through each level
  • You have zero interest in how games are actually built

Questions

Before you jump in

Do I need to already know how to code?

Basic comfort with reading and editing code helps, but the course is built around directing Claude Code through each system, so you don't need to be an expert to follow along and build the whole game.

Do I need any specific game engine?

The workflow is framework-agnostic and taught using a lightweight, beginner-friendly 2D setup, so the same prompting and build patterns carry over if you prefer a different engine or framework.

Do I need Claude Code specifically to take this course?

Yes — the course is built around using Claude Code as your coding agent throughout every level, from setup through shipping the final build.

What if I get stuck on a level?

You can reach out through support any time — see the link below — and the prompt library is there as a reference whenever a specific system isn't clicking.
